On April 26th there was held a meeting of Architectural-Urban Council in the great hall of Kherson City Council dedicated to presentation of the preliminary design of Swan’s Lake renewal in Kherson. The speaker was the author of the rough project – designer Artur Aymetov.

The project of Swan’s Lake renewal as a civil location is original and unique in its own way. As, in fact, it was created by not a designer or a pressure group, but it is the result of Kherson folks’ of different age questioning on the way they would like to see this lake, that was the architectural landmark of the city. This questioning was performed in 2016 by young activists during public events at Lebedinka.

It turns out that the preliminary design of Lebedinka 2018 is a visualized variant of Swan’s Lake that would satisfy different social layers. Of course, the project will be refined. It requires an expert architectural appraisal. And the authors accept the critics with readiness staying open to constructive proposals and remarks.

And as Valerii Borzhkov, due to the initiative of which the contest of preliminary designs of the reconstruction projects of the most popular locations of Kherson was performed, stated, “Do not tell us why it is unreal; help with your knowledge and skills to bring this project to life!”

In fact, all “the paths” beaten by people should be taken into consideration according to activists’ words. If the side-walk was made straight, but people had beaten the path diagonally across, it means that the side-walk should be made again.

Council’s members, Deputies of the City Council and common Kherson folks participated during the meeting, as it was open for everyone who wanted to take part in it.

We would like to remind that the essence of the project “Lebedinka 2018” is not only to renew the favorite venue for Kherson folks rest, but to create a new modern and comfortable civil area where it will be interesting and homey to spend time for all Kherson inhabitants – the Youth, families and representatives of older generations.

The discussion of the project was quite lively and hot: Deputies of Kherson Municipal Council – Valerii Borzhkov, Ievhen Nazaryan, Oleksandr Knyga, Olena Mazur, Chief Architect of Kherson Oblast Grygorii Khodin, a member of National Union of Architects of Ukraine Viacheslav Gromykhin, Head of Kherson Water and Wastewater Treatment Plant Mykhailo Cheremys and others made their speeches. The result of this meeting was voting of Council’s members for an application to the Deputy Corps of Kherson City Council to announce the official contest of architectural designs of Swan’s Lake reconstruction by the City Council.

We would like to remind that the results of reviewing of projects and rough projects by the Architectural-Construction Council have the form of recommendation. But it will be taken into consideration during the refining stage and affirmation. It is an obligatory procedure for all construction objects that are planned to be built in our city.
